The film begins with the closing of Brasa prison. The oldest prison in Latvia, it was built in 1905 and has become outdated. But for the inmates, it has long been their only home. The film’s protagonists reside in Ward 207, and they have truly inhabited it – there’s even a fish tank in the ward! All have their small pleasures and big plans. All long for change, yet are afraid of it. For some, their prison terms will also end soon. They know how to survive in extreme circumstances but are unprepared for living a normal life.

Brasa prison was closed in 2019 after the reform of Latvian prisons in order to use state budget funds more efficiently. Since then, the prison premises have remained empty, a TV series was filmed there. Previously, Brasa Prison housed inmates sentenced for serious and particularly serious crimes.
