Something Better to Come
18 km from the Kremlin, on the outskirts of Moscow, in the biggest landfill in Europe, director Hanna Polak has documented the past 14 years of young Yula’s life. Film critics are calling this the documentary twin of Richard Linklater’s Boyhood. Apocalyptic, harsh life conditions, akin to a Dickens’ novel, are interwoven with epic landscapes, highlighting the humanity in the seemingly most hideous and demeaning of circumstances.
