After more than a quarter century of silence, renowned Armenian filmmaker Artavazd Pelechian surprises the world with a new work. A poetically hypnotizing film created from video material capturing volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, floods and tornadoes. Pelechian’s monumental work is a uniquely nuanced message about the mighty and destructive force of nature. It is an illusion shattering elegy to humankind, which has become hostage to self-inflicted climate change.

Among Artavazd Pelechian’s fans is legendary French filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard, and Sergei Parajanov has called him “one of the rare geniuses of the film world”. Pelechian himself has stated to the French daily “Le Monde” that: “I’m convinced that cinema can simultaneously speak in the language of philosophy, science and art. Perhaps that is the whole that ancient cultures were seeking. In my work I’m looking for an opportunity to create an emotionally magnetic field.”
