The film project was presented at the Baltic Sea Docs 2020.

60-year-old social research interviewer Mziuri knocks on the doors of Tbilisi inhabitants in order to record their views on current topics. Mziuri leads us through the narrow streets of Tbilisi and the ugly micro-districts, showing us various housing structures and living conditions. Together with the film’s main character we get to know Georgian people’s attitudes towards their fellow citizens, their views on various political and civic issues, their fears and hopes. At the end of the film Mziuri herself becomes a respondent and reveals her dreams.

In Georgian Mziuri means “sunny”. In the Soviet era Georgia was known to tourists and frequently sung about as “sunny Georgia”. Director Keti Machavariani saw the ironic wordplay between this phrase and the most asked about subjects on the social research questionnaire on the country’s problems and challenges. The film received a Honourable Mention in the Best Mid-Length Documentary category at Hot Docs, North America’s most significant documentary film festival (Toronto, Canada).
