General info on the activity Travelling Docs is an activity of the Creative Europe MEDIA Desks that is carried out in a different documentary event every year offering additional industry event and motivating the European documentary producers to co-operate.

Travelling Docs 2023 is going to take place in Riga, Latvia, from September 6 – 8, 2023, within the framework of the 27th Baltic Sea Docs – a MEDIA supported pitching forum for documentaries organised by the National Film Centre of Latvia. The main venue for the event will be Fon Stricka Villa in Rīga.

The activity is aimed at the documentary producers who are interested in strengthening the cooperation with the Baltic producers by taking part in the Desks’ initiative Travelling Docs. Share Your Stories – a networking activity between the Baltic and other European docs producers.

Brief timeline Activities take place on Wednesday, September 6:
· 16.00 – 18.00 (LV time):
▪ brief introduction of the participating countries’ profile in documentaries;
▪ one-to-one meetings with Baltic producers.
· 18.30 – 20.00: MEDIA Seminar/webinar on the phenomenon of documentary approach in fiction films;
· 20.00 – 23.00: MEDIA reception.Thursday, September 7, and Friday, September 8:· Possibility to observe the pitching session of the selected Baltic Sea Docs projects;
· Watching carefully selected documentaries;
· Mingling with the participating producers, as well as decision makers.
The main Benefits for the producers · Possibility to find a co-producer for a Co-Development application;
· Easy to get in touch with invited decision makers, as they are very accessible due to the size of the event. To check out who has been participating – in 2022, 2021 and 2020;
· Watch a programme of significant documentaries in a Europa Cinemas cinema K.Suns. Last edition’s film programme;
· Have fun and talk in the social events taking place in the evening of Wednesday, September 6 (CE MEDIA Reception), and Thursday, September 7 (BSD Reception);
·  No participation fee, free accreditation for all the events and networking activities of the BSD.
Who are we looking for · Potential applicants for CE MEDIA Co-Development Scheme;
· Producers with previous experience in co-productions;
· Producers strongly motivated to work with their counter-parts from the Baltic countries;
· Producers who haven’t participated with their project in the last 3 editions of the BSD (not applicable for the Baltic producers).

· Motivation letter for the participation;
· 1 page description of the documentary idea/creative team (you can also participate without a project);
· Company’s bio.
What is there for you from the MEDIA Desk Assistance in covering the flight and accommodation costs for 2 nights (September 6-8) – either by reimbursing the costs or by advice where to look for the travel funding.
It is also worth considering to apply for regular BSD activities and possibly become a selected project if your company is based in the wider Baltic Sea region – the countries around the Baltic Sea or if the subject of your film relates to this region or Eastern Europe.
